Culturally Sensitive Care

Many of BVMI’s patients are recent immigrants. We strive to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate care.

To ensure patients receive optimal care and follow-up, interpreters and educational materials are available in Korean and Spanish.

Primary Care

Nearly 40,000* Bergen County adults with a household income less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Level are living without health insurance and may be eligible for BVMI’s services.

Thanks to our generous donors, Bergen County adults who don’t have health insurance still have access to quality healthcare

Women’s Health Initiative

Women account for nearly 70% of BVMI’s patient population and are often the sole support for their family.

Your donations mean that they receive annual well-woman visits and necessary screenings to keep them healthy.

Diabetes Prevention, Care And Education Program

10.9% of Bergen County residents have diabetes (up from 9.2% in 2016); and additional 15.6% report they have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes – a much higher figure than the national 8.6%.

With your help, BVMI provides care to more than 400 patients by providing monitoring and support, medication management, and education on healthy eating and exercise.

Behavioral Health

One-third of BVMI’s patients report some level of depression.

Because of you, they have access to mental health professionals who provide support and coping strategies.

Case Management

All of BVMI’s patients work in low-paying jobs and often don’t have enough money to buy food or pay the rent.

When you support BVMI, you make a difference by ensuring that our patients have access to a case manager who can help them connect to other resources.
